In order to
equip students with practical knowledge and professional skills aligned with
the development requirements of the pharmaceutical sector, the Department of
Pharmaceutical Management and Economics organized an orientation session for
Pharmacy students of the 2021–2026 cohort prior to the commencement of the
“Professional practice” course. This meaningful activity serves to strengthen
the connection between theoretical training and professional practice, while
fostering students’ sense of responsibility and self-discipline. The session
was attended by the faculty members in charge of supervision and all students,
with the aim of providing essential information, general regulations, and
guidance for participation at practice sites.
The
“Professional Practice” course is designed with 6 credits, equivalent to 180
periods over 6 weeks, and encompasses a wide range of content to offer students
a comprehensive experience of pharmaceutical practice. During the session,
students were briefed on regulations regarding schedule, location, internal
rules at practice facilities, and individual responsibilities throughout the
course.
Practice
at Retail Pharmacies
Students
directly observe and participate in retail activities, patient counseling on
medication use, and record management at community pharmacies. Through this,
they develop communication skills, enhance professional responsibility, and
reinforce ethical practice.
Practice
at Hospitals
Students
are introduced to clinical pharmacy activities, participate in medication
management in treatment, and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration. These
experiences contribute to shaping the mindset of pharmacists as companions to
physicians in patient care.
Practice
at Pharmaceutical Enterprises
Students
explore pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, quality management, and
business operations, thereby gaining insights into the real-world requirements
of the pharmaceutical industry in the context of global integration.
Throughout
the course, faculty members provide direct guidance, orientation, and emphasize
important notes to help students maximize the effectiveness of their practicum.
The “Professional Practice” course serves as an essential bridge between theory
and practice, contributing to the development of professional competence, soft
skills, and career readiness for pharmacy students.
The
Department of Pharmaceutical Management and Economics firmly believes that,
through this course, students of the 2021–2026 cohort will achieve holistic
growth, confidently enter the final stage of their academic journey, and be
well-prepared for their future professional careers - making worthy
contributions to the cause of healthcare, protection, and improvement of public
health.
