INTRODUCTION
The Department of Economic and Administrative Pharmacy is a specialized department within the Faculty of Pharmacy at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine. It provides education in the fields of sociology, administrative pharmacy, and pharmacoeconomics to meet the human resource demands of the pharmaceutical sector. This includes undergraduate programs for 3rd, 4th, and 5th-year students (specializing in Pharmaceutical Care) and postgraduate programs such as Specialist and Master’s degrees in Pharmaceutical Administration and Pharmacology & Clinical Pharmacy. The department conducts scientific research focusing on sociology, administrative pharmacy, and pharmacoeconomics.
The department currently consists of 08 faculty members, including 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 1 PhD, 1 Specialist Level II Pharmacist, 1 Master of Science, and 3 Bachelor Pharmacists.
HISTORY
The Faculty of Pharmacy at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine was established in April 2017 and is developing into a leading training and research center in the field of pharmacy. Its goal is to provide high-quality human resources for the healthcare system of the country in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
The Department of Economic and Administrative Pharmacy was officially established by the President of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in June 2019, overseeing one of the two specialized training orientations of the Faculty. The department teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students (Specialist I, Master’s), as well as customized training programs.

FUNCTIONS
- Teaching basic and advanced knowledge, skills, and professional practices related to Pharmaceutical Administration for full-time undergraduate students (3rd, 4th, and 5th-year Pharmaceutical Care orientation), postgraduate students (Specialist, Master’s), and other trainees;
- Conducting scientific research in related fields such as Pharmacoeconomics/Health Technology Assessment (HTA), Health Outcomes, Community Health, and Administrative Pharmacy.
TASKS
- Teaching modules for students and trainees with content belonging to fundamental, major, and specialized knowledge as assigned by the Faculty. Supervising foundational and clinical internships;
- Supervising scientific research for students and trainees; guiding projects, theses, and dissertations;
- Developing framework and specific training programs; compiling textbooks, course materials, lectures, and examination question banks for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and other system;
- Participating in education and training quality assurance according to current regulations: evaluating learner results, updating exam banks, determining assessment methods, and managing academic records;
- Engaging in science and technology activities: scientific research, reports, journal publications, and management science projects;
- Establishing and implementing the direction, planning, and development of the department;
- Managing and effectively using the facilities and equipment of the University, Faculty, and Department;
- Collaborating with other departments/units within the Faculty of Pharmacy or external organizations (Department of Health, hospitals under the Ministry/HCMC Department of Health, pharmaceutical distribution companies...) to increase practicality and interdisciplinarity in teaching and research oriented toward pharmaceutical care;
- Coordinating with other departments and offices within the Faculty in production and service activities;
- Participating in Party, union, and social activities;
- Performing other tasks assigned by the President and Dean.
POWERS
- Advising and proposing the implementation of contents according to the department's functions and tasks as specified in these regulations;
- Advising and proposing amendments to contents related to the Department in these regulations to suit practical needs while ensuring compliance with current laws.
- Other powers as prescribed by regulations.

- Strictly complying with legal regulations and these University regulations;
- Taking full responsibility before the Dean for the implementation of functions, tasks, and powers specified;
- Ensuring legality, scientific accuracy, and confidentiality (if necessary) when performing assigned activities.
