On
the morning of March 17, 2026, at the Duong Quang Trung Hall – Area A – Hoa
Hung Campus, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine,
organized the second scientific seminar of the 2025–2026 academic year with the
theme: “Photochemical Reactions: A Promising Approach in Physiology Research
and Drug Development.”
The
seminar commenced with opening remarks delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen
Dang Thoai – Acting Vice Rector of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and
Chair of the program. In his address, he emphasized the importance of exploring
new research directions, particularly the application of photochemistry in
physiology and pharmaceutical development.
The
event attracted lecturers, staff, researchers, graduate trainees, and students
from both within and outside the university. The specialized presentations
offered valuable knowledge and practical insights:
Dr.
Tran Thi Thanh Tam, Lecturer of the Department of
Specialized Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Pham Ngoc Thach University of
Medicine, presented on “Caged Compounds: Photochemical Release Technology
for Controlling Physiological Processes in Biomedical Research.” Her
presentation provided attendees with a clear understanding of the mechanisms of
caged compounds, their potential applications in neuroscience and physiology,
and various light-controlled molecular techniques.
Dr.
Nguyen Vu Trung Tin, Lecturer of the Department of Medicinal
Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi
Minh City, delivered a talk on “Combining Photochemistry and Iodobenzene
Dichloride in the Development of Novel Synthetic Methods for Drug Discovery.”
His presentation focused on new photochemical approaches aimed at optimizing
molecular structures and supporting the development of lead compounds for
pharmaceuticals.
The
Organizing Committee sincerely thanked the distinguished speakers, faculty
members, and all attendees for their contributions to the success of the first
scientific seminar of the 2025–2026 academic year.
