The Faculty of Pharmacy at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine was officially established in April 2017. Over more than three years of formation and growth, the Faculty has been developing into one of the leading centers for education and research in the pharmaceutical field, with the mission of supplying a high-quality workforce for the healthcare systems of Vietnam at large and Ho Chi Minh City in particular. Currently, the Faculty's personnel comprises 29 lecturers and staff members, over 75% of whom hold postgraduate degrees.
The five-year, full-time Bachelor of Pharmacy program is designed based on the national framework curriculum of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Training. It was officially accredited and authorized to commence student enrollment in 2017. To date, the university has enrolled five cohorts, totaling 261 students. In line with our commitment to providing high-quality human resources, starting from 2022, the Faculty will expand its offerings to include postgraduate programs, aiming to establish a comprehensive framework of pharmaceutical education tiers as stipulated by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Training.
In terms of facilities, the Faculty of Pharmacy has completed the commissioning of an equipment and instrument package funded by a project from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. The Faculty has now fully established four teaching laboratories and six research laboratories, including: Pharmaceutics - Biopharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy - Natural Products, Molecular Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis - Quality Control, Animal Research, and Medicinal Chemistry. These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art, integrated equipment, fully meeting the demands of practical training and multi-level scientific research.
In addition to its undergraduate and forthcoming postgraduate programs, the Faculty of Pharmacy is establishing itself as a prestigious provider of Continuing Pharmaceutical Education (CPE), attracting numerous participants nationwide. Since 2019, the Faculty has conducted training and awarded certificates of completion to nearly 4,000 participants in programs such as "Updating Professional Knowledge in Pharmaceutical Practice," "Certificate in Hospital-based Clinical Pharmacy Practice," and "Management and Preservation of Vaccines, Biologicals, and Pharmaceutical Ingredients."
To effectively implement its educational and research objectives, the Faculty receives comprehensive and dedicated collaboration from leading practical training partners and pharmaceutical institutions across the city. These partners include the Institute of Drug Quality Control - HCMC, the Drug, Cosmetic and Food Quality Control Center of HCMC, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, An Binh Hospital, Nhan Dan Gia Dinh Hospital, the HCMC Traditional Medicine Institute, Vinmec Central Park International General Hospital, FV Hospital (Franco-Vietnamese Hospital), the Institute of Traditional Medicine - HCMC, Pharmedic Pharmaceutical Medicinal JSC, US Pharma - USA Pharmaceutical JSC, and Roussel Vietnam, among others.
